At Literacy Lane LLC, we specialize in dyslexia therapy for students ages 5 and older. All instructional programs are deeply rooted in the science of reading and current research in dyslexia. Individuals receive intensive instruction from a highly trained Certified Academic Language Therapist in a private setting.
Multi-sensory Structured Language Education is the term used by ALTA certified members to describe our highly effective instructional approach. Our therapeutic approach teaches all components of the Structure of the English Language. Based on the Science of Reading research, our teachings are diagnostic and prescriptive, systematic, intensive, multi-sensory, sequential and cumulative, direct and explicit. Each program is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to language education.
Consultation & Screening
Parents may call or email us to schedule a consultation and screening. Screenings usually take between 1-2 hours and may be completed over 1-2 individual sessions. Following the screening, a comprehensive report is created and a meeting is scheduled to discuss results and a plan of instruction.
Student Programs
Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia is a curriculum written by the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC). JET- (TSRHC) Jet: A Fast-Paced Reading Intervention is a one-year curriculum that builds on the success of the four previous dyslexia intervention programs developed by the staff of Scottish Rite for Children. It was developed for use with middle school students and above.
Early Intervention & Essential Reading Skills
Early Intervention is provided through a multi-sensory pre-reading curriculum focusing on phonological awareness, letter recognition, and alphabet sequencing activities as well as oral language activities including vocabulary, comprehension, listening, and verbal expression. We also offer instruction in essential reading skills, including the six syllable types, comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and grammar for students who need extra help but do not require an intensive dyslexia therapy program.
